Let’s Improve Healthcare
We must empower health organizations to educate the members of the community about the health risks they may face. We can do this by equipping health departments with the tools and resources they need to implement effective health strategies in collaboration with the community.
That’s why I have sponsored more than thirty bills that support mental health resources, healthcare, and social justice reform– including the creation of the Veteran’s Suicide Task Force to help prevent suicide.
I strongly believe that access to quality and affordable healthcare should not be a privilege, it is a human right that should be available to everyone. I will continue championing legislation that protects and expands healthcare access, including Medicaid.
I have witnessed the suffering caused by limited access to healthcare and public health resources. Too many of District 54’s hospitals have closed and we face shortages of medical and mental professionals here, and throughout the state.
I continue to strongly advocate for policies to reduce food deserts, fight obesity, tackle the addiction and opioid crisis facing our community, and expand access to physical and mental health resources. We must ensure that everyone in our community receives they healthcare they need and deserve.
